"Love and Peace" Project - Art in Action Big Salt Lakes, Jujuy, Argentina 2008 Paradoxically, the design of this peace symbol does not belong to the native people of the Argentine lands, this action when deconstruct speaks ironically about those who are in charge of the Earth, asking for their permission to realize this on the salt lake. Salt lakes are giant salt deserts that emerged from where the fertile seas and millenary oceans once were, and show us biologically the earth health. They should been plain and open areas, but in reality they shows us the Earth’s vital beat and calls us to think about her care. In August, month in which Pachamama is celebrated, we honoured her, all of us summoned under the loving shelter of our Earth and Sky Mother, expressing the ancestral respect for our native people, and valuing knitting as one of the most nobles and ancient artistic expressions. This action consisted on knitting the Peace and Love symbol, joining cloths of different colours that were knitted by hands in different places of the country, all eager to provide love, peace and justice for all our brothers, in the context of the contemporary art.
